This Hojicha Set brings together craftsmanship and calm. It includes two handmade cups — one in glossy pink, one in warm brown — and a 30g tin of finely ground Hojicha powder from Matchasome.

The set was created in collaboration with Matchasome from Berlin and Asphaltgold from Darmstadt and Frankfurt, combining Japanese tea culture with handmade ceramics from our Frankfurt studio.

Hojicha originates from Kyoto, where tea merchants began roasting green tea leaves and stems over charcoal in the 1920s. The result is a roasted green tea with a nutty, toasty and mellow flavor — slightly sweet, with notes of caramel.

Matchasome’s Hojicha comes directly from Kagoshima, Japan. It’s low in caffeine and rich in L-theanine, making it a calming drink for any time of day.

You can prepare it just like matcha — whisked with water or your favorite milk, and optionally sweetened with a touch of maple syrup.
